Office LAN
LAN installations include the SNS (Satellite Network Server). The SNS
is a satellite-optimized Intel platform that provides firewall, router
with (NAT and advanced NAT) port mapping, packet filtering, DHCP and other
advanced features. The SNS also provides remote administration and troubleshooting
capability and hosts the satellite-modem software and system diagnostics.
The SNS is designed to connect 10, 25,
50 or more workstations depending on the router license selected. It
connects to a hub or switch using standard 10/100 ethernet. The
SNS is highly engineered to optimize satellite connectivity, allowing
an unprecedented level of reliability and supportability. The SNS is custom
pre-configured for each customer prior to shipment.
Your customers simply connect
our indoor unit to their network through a standard Ethernet connection
to their hub or switch. Any or all
PCs on the LAN can be given access to the broadband satellite connection.
The unit will connect over a private satellite network to the Skycasters
NOC, where there are multiple DS-3 circuits connected to multiple Tier-1
internet providers.
The NOC provides routing either to
the public internet or to the ASP through an IPSec tunnel across the internet,
or both. The NOC can also connect directly to the ASP Partner through
dedicated leased lines or through a Frame Relay PVC.
Our engineering support team assists
the customer in the basic set up of the SNS and the first workstation.
Additional workstations are set up the same way (except for IP address).
Our engineering support team is available for assistance in integration,
firewall or router support or other needs. Our 24x7 technical support
center is always available to assist with any satellite connectivity issue.
